 YEEES SUSTAINABILITY CAMP @ MAXIXE

Are you interested in international cooperation and the opportunity to spend a month abroad at an exciting “off the beaten path” location? Are you interested in sharing your ideas and skills with a group of like-minded university students who have been given the task of finding solutions for local challenges? If so, you should take part in our second YEEES Sustainability CAMP —Solutions for Maxixe” taking place from November 18th to December 12th, 2018 in the coastal city of Maxixe, Mozambique.

Our project specifically elaborates on the resilience of cities and peri-urban areas with a focus on diverse fields such as: education, sustainability, arts and creativity. We are committed to supporting the development of especially entrepreneurial and ICT-based solutions.

During the camp you will work in interdisciplinary teams alongside selected students from Germany, Mozambique, Namibia and South Africa. Throughout the camp you will be applying your creativity and entrepreneurial mindset to generate solutions for the real-life challenges faced by the residents of Maxixe. These challenges have been identified by our partner, Universidade Pedagogica Mozambique, specifically in the areas of waste management, entrepreneurial education in primary schools, water conservation and small business management.

The YEEES Team together with the Leuphana Social Change Hub and the Social Entrepreneurship Center of Maxixe are collaborating in the conception and development of the camp.

Requirements:

  • You must be an enrolled student at a one of the partner universities in Germany**, Mozambique, Namibia or South Africa
  • English language is a requirement, knowledge of Portuguese is a plus but not required                   (the YEEES Sustainability CAMP will be conducted entirely in English)
  • Commitment to work in Maxixe for the entire duration of the camp, starting November 18th until December 12th 2018

*As a participant of our idea Camp you will be awarded funding for your costs of living during the camp in Mozambique, including flight expenses. This is only for students coming from outside of Mozambique. Visa and insurance expenses are not included.

**For Leuphana Master Students in the Module: Connecting Science, Responsibility and Society, the camp can be registered within a seminar in the Module
